The Ford Assistant is a cloud connected omni-channel digital assistant. In vehicles, it can be conveniently accessed through voice commands to assist users with various tasks, help with vehicle alerts and search the owner's manualAdditionally, the Ford Assistant extends its functionality beyond the vehicle, offering an OEM first-to-market chat channel accessible through Facebook Messenger. This enables users to give vehicle commands and seek information about their vehicle remotely. 

Users can seek assistance on different topics, including:

 

  • “What does this light on my dash mean?”

  • “How much charge do I have left?”

  • “What’s my odometer reading?”

  • “Does my vehicle have any recalls?”

The assistant displays contextual screens for questions about vehicle health alerts, owner's manual, and charging if the vehicle is parked.

Users can send chat messages for off-board assistance.

​My Contributions

  • Synthesized research findings to develop a unique, Ford-branded assistant personality and design framework

  • Created/released implementation-ready conversation design specifications, including 9 In-vehicle specifications, 24 Chat Channel specifications, and 950+ dialogue responses

  • Collaborated closely with cross-functional teams, including developers and product owners, to ensure the successful implementation of conversation design, UI, and dialogue responses into the final product

  • Informed strategic product roadmap vision, aligning design decisions with long-term goals

  • Utilized user analytics to drive product improvements
